Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving day, I'm thinking of all the different ways that people describe this day.

Some call it turkey day while others call it Thanksgiving day. I prefer the more traditional Thanksgiving day. The reason is because if today is really all about the food, then what a shame. We can cook a meal any day. But there's one day that's designated as the day of Thanksgiving.

Today is the day let's take the time to stop and look and listen and see what we're really thankful for and then celebrate that with our meal, after the meal and before the meal. Its really all about loved ones, isn't it?

Have a great day!

Friends & Family

I believe that family members, especially as we grow older, should be viewed as people that we want to spend time with because we would be friends with them even if they weren't family. And those that don't fit that category we don't give up on, but we don't waste our time with them either. Life is too short for that kind of stress.

There are so many who struggle with the guilt of trying to be close to a family member that they don't really like because of disrespect, either mental or physical. It is the family members who create so much drama that it makes our lives miserable.

Take a good look at your family. Choose family members that you know you would be friends with even if they weren't family and choose to spend your time with them. Don't ignore the others, unless they are bringing harm to you. If they are bringing harm to you drop them like a rock. If they change later on, okay. But if they don't, let them go. You will be much happier in the long run. Have a great day!

Special People

We had an early Thanksgiving yesterday with our extended family. It was such a great feeling to be included in this great family, not as an outsider but as a member of the Family. These are special people and they warm my heart.

Who warms your heart? Let me encourage you to let them know today. We never know what tomorrow might bring.

Have a good day!

Smell the Roses

It's a little after 5 AM on Saturday. I'm sitting here in my living room with the lights off and the fireplace on. It's storming outside but it's nice and warm and beautiful inside. This is what I call stopping to smell the roses.

Certainly I didn't coin the phrase. But I do stop to smell the roses more often these days. It's a great idea, don't you think?

There's enough stress in life out there every day. If we don't take the time to stop and look and listen, will miss so much. Have a great day and stop to smell the roses.

Pride

It's Friday morning November 19 just before 3 AM. I'm wide awake, as has been the case now for several months. I don't know why, but I also find it very relaxing. This morning. I'm wondering why so many siblings are at odds with one another. I know that life can take some strange and mysterious turns, and that people do have a tendency to react emotionally to them, but I think it really boils down to pride.

Pride is such an ugly thing. Of course, we all struggle with it. But pride in what really? Are we really all that good? The only thing that we should be proud of are the good things that we do. That's all. So you know what? Let's do more good things. Perhaps we can start by making amends with our siblings. Now that is something to be proud of.

Have a great day!

Monday Morning

As we face another week, let's encourage one another. Think of the last time someone either gave you words of encouragement or even a compliment. It most likely made your day. Why not set out to make someones day? You'll feel great too. I can't think of a better way to start my week.

Sunday

Well, we just got home and I was right. Heather is exhausted from all of the driving. Amazing is the only way to describe the event and time spent with family. Amazing.

It is always nice to get back home, isn't it? I'm exhausted myself, so I'm headed for bed so I can, Lord willing, make it through this week!

Friday

Its Friday morning and I feel so bad that I can't make it to work. I hate that. So I'll sleep until it's time to go to Las Vegas and sleep in the car on the way down and back up. Poor Heather, she's going to have to drive almost a thousand miles in a 3 day time span. That's rough, especially when you have a bad hip!

It will be all worth it though, because in addition to seeing one of my beautiful nieces marry, I will see family that I haven't seen in a very long time. The drive home on Sunday will be rough. Enough whining, carpe diem!

Columbus Day

I really enjoyed the Holiday. Just think, if Columbus hadn't been a moron, he never would have discovered this place and then just like that - no Holiday.

Columbus Day sounds much better than others that might have been. Ponce de Leon Day? I don't think so. Sleep well friends.

Sunday!

So this morning it is beautiful outside, and once again I am in the living room with the fireplace on and loving it!

I wish I could go to church this morning, but with today's technology, church can come to me! I love that.

I'm feeling tired but better today. It's going to be a good day and tomorrow is a holiday! Yaba Daba Doo!

Observation of the day: I like all of my iTunes songs except when I shuffle. Then I only like about one in fifteen.

Today

I mentioned in my earlier post that I was very tired and was determined to make it a great day.

I helped out as much as I could with the yard work, but I think it was too much. I had a major seizure at Walmart, while standing in the checkout line. Quite embarrassing, to say the least. Paramedics, police, nurses, etc. I waited for Heather to come, rather than the ambulance. I'm doing better now, just extremely exhausted. Well, it is what it is, as they say.

Saturday

It's Saturday morning and Heather has gone to her half marathon in Layton. It is October 10 , 2010.

I'm sitting in the living room in the dark with the fireplace on and Maggie, our puppy is sleeping beside me. This is a wonderful, peaceful quiet time.

In a little while, I have some wonderful friends who are coming over to help with my back yard. I'll need to leave soon to get them some donuts. I'm very tired, but I'm determined to make this a great day.

Drama

I hate drama. I am not talking about performance drama, but unnecessary drama in everyday life.

Some people can handle it, others thrive on it. I can't stand it. There is enough stress in our lives without adding more crap. It eventually catches up to you in one way or another and the results can be devastating.

Life is too short, people, so if you're one of those who can't seem to find peace without misery, get therapy and leave everyone else alone!

Stress

We all have stress is in our life. However you can be free from it. That's not to say it's easy by any means, but it is possible.

As many of you know I suffer from severe anxiety mostly caused by stress. At least that's one of the triggers. There's more to be sure, however stress is something that can be managed.

Step one: make a list of every stress trigger that you're aware of. Take your time, and don't forget anything. You will be amazed at how many stress triggers you have in your life. Start with the easiest. I have found that the easiest way to do it for me is to eliminate people who cause me stress. It's pretty easy to do, actually . Just stop returning phone calls or answering the phone when they call.

Stress causes great harm to people . It can affect our health, relationships, all sorts of things. So do it, make the list today . I will write more on what to do with that list.

Men and Women

Let's get back to women. Women do things that I will never in my life understand. They go to the bathroom in groups. Why? I don't understand that.

I've heard answers from I need someone for protection, company, companionship. But the true reason is that they like to talk to each other. Which is why men don't get that. The last thing men do in the restroom is chitchat. It just isn't done.

Women have no idea what we go through. There is pressure in the men's room. There are rules in the men's room. For example, if a guy walks into the restroom and there's a bank of six urinals and there is one guy on the far left side he has to take the urinal on the far right side. Otherwise he's gay. There's no looking around, there is no talking.

Women on the other hand, get furniture. It's like a condo in there. Do you really need a couch? Is it that exhausting a process for you? "Oh I just tinkled. I need to sit down. I need to take a nap." Men are retarded, women are psycho. More to come...

How about men?

I guess it's time to switch up a little bit and talk about men for change.

We are all retarded. We know this. In fact if it weren't for women in our lives we would all die at the age of 30 simply from eating Carl's Junior for every single meal.

We wouldn't know how to dress, we wouldn't know anything. I don't even know what I like anymore. Even now when I go out to dinner with Heather the waitress comes up and says "What would you like?" I look at my wife and say "I don't know honey what do I like? I have no clue.

We've been married for 12 years now. I haven't bought a piece of clothing or shoes in 12 years. I don't blame her. I can't be trusted. I buy the wrong colors, the wrong styles and I pay way too much money. Why? Because I'm retarded.

Honesty Continued…

So I hope yesterday's blog didn't upset any ladies. But let me just ask you this question: when you ask your man "Do these pants make me look fat?" Do you really expect an honest answer? And what would you do to him if you gave you one?

When my wife is getting ready to go somewhere, she will always ask me "Which outfit do you think is better?" I stare at her in silence, knowing that whichever one I choose is going to be the wrong choice. Not only that, when I do give her an answer, she always tells me "Be honest with me". Sorry, I've learned from experience, you just can't do that.

OK, here goes...

Women claim to want honesty. I throw the flag on that one. There are many examples; here are a few.

If you're out with your woman, and she sees another woman she knows, she is likely to greet that woman with a warm, friendly acknowledgement, perhaps even a hug. The man, being completely clueless, also greets the woman warmly, including a hug. afterward, your woman says "Why did you hug that witch?!?!?" You, shocked, say "Well, you hugged her!" She replies "I hate her!"

Men are honest. If we meet up with a guy we don't like, we say will choose a phrase that honestly suits the feelings for one another, and he'll do the same - and we're on our way. No hugs.

More to come...
